Great minds in human history have always been curious about the larger and deeper secrets of human history. One which we call the mysteries and wonders of mankind is nothing else but the living yet non-breathing proofs of the advanced technologies which took place in our past. Since human life started, the race of sustaining and learning through accidents has begun. Humans have learned through experiments and evolution. Once they knew what not to do, it became easier for them to follow the lead of different variables to juggle with. The human brain has always responded explicitly in the field of science and art, which made their life easier and more colourful. Passing down the knowledge through generations has been a tradition, but like always, few things are kept apart.

The best blend of science and art is none other than Architecture itself. Each development and breakthrough in the past years of evolution of mankind has been one step up in the learning curve. Regardless of all the differences and borders we have, as mankind, we all look forward together and united. Bonding and blooming happen in nature and requires space and an open-minded attitude. Through these baby steps till creating a scientific breakthrough, evolution has given us enough at a reasonable cost of harming nature. In totality, a coin will always have two sides. But the balance of sides must be considered and respected. Humans have been asking the question of “how we are?” for generations now. There are various theories and explanations but each rising sun brings us a new twist.

History and Heritage

Learn from past mistakes; we all have heard this at least once in our lives. History is a record of things done in the past, regardless of what outcomes we got out of it. One has to fall to rise taller and brighter again. There are marvelous yet mysterious structures widespread all across the world. One which makes us think about what must have been involved in the process, the purpose behind and the technology used. Our ancestors could bring these out of nothing, and we have learned so much from the studies done on these structures. Architecture never happens in a day, it is a long process of designing, forming, and shaping humanity. The detailing and determination we observe make us think, Architecture of the past gives the idea of what our four generations were capable of. The structures and civilizations we study give us a briefing on what expansion they explored and technologies they built over. The learning begins from these questions and the answers hidden within.

Many organizations all over the world are working day and night to preserve our heritage and traditions. Heritage is a gift in various forms passed on from generations not only to learn but also for experience. Each mind thinks differently, and each structure is understood differently by everyone. Sharing and discussing these perspectives and trying to reach for the roots of their efforts brings us close to who we are. There are various ways to pass on knowledge through generations. Few are in written form, few in storytelling, few are through drawings, and yet few are through structures built to pass on a message. There is always a new interpretation of the evolution of humans when we think we are at the peak of understanding. There is a sudden realization that we are at a datum of a new stream. Architecture brings out the art in the people as well as showcases their technological hold and knowledge.

The capabilities of the human brain are massively unexplored. The limits are way off than what we are dealing with right now. Architecture is a form that works in coordination and inhabiting various components. If we look at the human body from this perspective, it can be considered a state-of-the-art piece of Architecture. Each body has its shape and form as well as size. The body is covered with a layer of skin; our face represents the façade of a body. We all are walking-talking pieces of Architecture. From a broader perspective, all living organisms’ body forms can be considered under this. Biomimicry in architecture is nothing but inspiration from nature, which has been in practice for many years. Many discoveries were based on the detailed study of the functioning of a body. Another branch of Architecture to learn through.

Habitat to Hierarchy

Prime most purpose of Architecture is to provide shelter. Through evolution, humans have upgraded the level of their habitable space with comfort and safety. The shelter can be provided for the resident purpose, work, or just as a token of love. Architecture is considered a constant, something which will sustain for hundred plus years to represent something. But to prove a point, humans have trapped themselves in a rat race. This has impacted the dynamic shift in human evolution and the changing styles in Architecture . To remain on top of the pyramid, one is constantly engaging in a competition they generated for themselves. To evolve together, grow as a team, and contribute as a team effort has been lost in pace. Architecture nowadays has become more of a benchmark-setting struggle. With all new technologies and advancements, humans are losing touch with their roots. In a race of going up and above, we are creating the fear of falling for ourselves.

Since the beginning, Architecture itself has been one constant throughout experimentation through a variety of channels. It helps us understand the past, live in the present, and work hard for the future. Architecture Is meant to shape the evolution of humans, not to trap it but to explore in a safe and healthy environment. Architecture gives us perspective to know up to what limits we can reach, what benchmarks are already set for us, and how we can evolve as humankind together through this.
